With an involvement in agriculture over 20 years from agronomy, family farm management on Kangaroo Island, lecturing and regional management in various areas of Australia, working in agriculture is a passion. Working with farmers, customers and industry groups to find farming solutions is very rewarding. Having a young family of boys, football and cricket are not far away as well as the motorbikes. Packing up the camper to head to the coast is a regular activity as well as being part of the Lucindale Roos Football Club and community.

I have a passion for agriculture. Born and raised on a dairy farm in the Adelaide hills, I have had several roles within the industry working on our own family farm as well as managing other properties. I have spent the last 14 years as an agronomist working in broadacre agronomy and small seed production and am now in my current role within Nufarm. I love working in the ag industry and helping provide solutions to growers and the industry as a whole. It is a great industry be work in and the diversity makes every day exciting. I have a passion for positive outcomes for all participants across the industry. Having performed roles at various management levels of agricultural businesses has equipped me to understand the daily requirements of producers and our customers. I am proud to work for an Australian company that manufactures products locally. I was fortunate enough to study Agricultural Science throughout high school and then went on to complete a Bachelor of Environmental Science at the University of Adelaide, developing a keen interest in weed ecology.  I have since worked at Forestry SA, University of Adelaide, and Eurofins Agroscience Services and am currently in the role of Field Development Officer at Nufarm.  I have a strong interest in herbicides, managing herbicide resistance and enjoy playing a role in developing solutions for farmers and agronomists.  Being a part of the Portfolio Solutions team at Nufarm Australia is very satisfying because we have a culture that fosters creativity and ideation, which I believe are key components of successful product development.

Growing up in regional NSW, my parents had various operations, from growing rice, sheep, cattle, & tourism. I feel very fortunate to be working in Agriculture & for Nufarm. My role allows me to spend time in the paddock working with Agronomists and Growers to develop awareness of our products, new and old. I love to get out and about in my spare time, cycling, running, fishing and camping. I am currently studying Business Management via Distance Education and really enjoy applying theoretical learning to practical applications.

My involvement with agriculture began on our family farm in Central West NSW. After completing an Agricultural Science degree I gained invaluable experience as an agronomist in Central QLD, and now working for Nufarm in several cropping regions across NSW. I really enjoy working with farmers to improve productivity and always aim to increase awareness of challenges the agricultural industry faces. I am now living on my own farm with three young children, a sheep feedlot and a big country garden.

Growing up on the family farm at Lake Cargelligo, I developed a keen interest in Agriculture at an early age and it was always an industry I wanted to be part of. As the Agriculture industry is constantly changing and always being challenged by external forces there is always something interesting keeping me motivated. Agronomy roles in the M.I.A. and then Saskatchewan have given me a sound understanding of many cropping segments. My role with Nufarm allows me to work with local Agronomists and Farmers, finding solutions to continue increasing productivity and profitability. A young family consumes most spare time at the moment but I still wet a line with mates when I can.

I completed an agricultural science degree at Melbourne University (Dookie campus) and then started a career in broadacre cropping agronomy before joining Nufarm in a Research and Development (R&D) role in 2005 based in Horsham, Victoria.  I remain based in Horsham with a wife and three boys; and my current role of Field Development Lead for Australia and New Zealand, involves coordinating a team of Field Development Officers.  This group is part of our Portfolio Solutions team and we work on projects that span across a diverse crop range and geography with a general focus on finding solutions to farmers crop protection problems.  I enjoy travelling throughout regional Australia and New Zealand and it’s a continual learning process on different agricultural crops.  The development time-frames for new products or solutions can be quite long; so we all take great satisfaction from a product launch and providing technical advice to our sales teams, external agronomists and consultants as well as the end user.

My interest in agriculture began growing up on a beef cattle property in Victoria’s Yarra Valley. The expansion of viticulture in the area gained my interest and led to me studying viticultural and plant science at La Trobe University. While at Uni, I gained experience from part time work in pesticide development. Following a stint in vineyard work, I returned to product development first with a contract research organisation then into my current role with Nufarm Australia. I enjoy the challenge of finding solutions for key pests and diseases in horticultural crops.

I have been involved in the agricultural industry for over 20 years and the one thing I enjoy above all else, is getting the opportunity to meet with growers from across the state and learn about their stories and see the passion they have for what they do. Having grown up in a small regional town, I understand the importance that growers have to all of the small communities around the country, and now living in the city I enjoy educating my children on the importance growers have on our lives from the food we eat to the clothes that we wear. Away from work, most weekends are spent involved in my children’s sports and being a Fremantle Dockers supporter I am usually hanging out for the start of the cricket season.

Working with farmers and stores to safely deliver food to the world gives me huge sense of fulfilment. My family is my full focus when not delivering the service that the farming community requires. Sport is the main stay of life outside of work with cricket, hockey, netball, golf and football filling the weekends in nicely. When there is no sport, the coast is the destination for a spot of fishing and family fun.

My involvement with agriculture came about through a somewhat unconventional path. I grew up in Adelaide well away from all things agricultural, in a family passionate about plants and many diverse fields of science. I entered into an Agricultural Science degree at Adelaide University as a perceived stepping stone to greater things but found the biology focused course material perfectly in line with my core interests. I formed a passion for plant pathology over the years that has followed me throughout my career. On completion of my honours degree, I ventured across the desert to Western Australia for what I assumed would be a 2-3 year stint, learning the ropes as a field researcher in broadacre agriculture. It’s here that I met my wife and we began our little family, gifted with two amazing girls. My short stint turned into a twenty-year career (and counting), spanning three agricultural chemical companies, focused on herbicide, insecticide and fungicide development for the Australian broadacre and horticulture markets. I have been able to return to my passion for plant pathology over the last ten years with Nufarm with a particular focus on horticultural cropping. I love learning and challenging my own scientific knowledge through field trials. I’m passionate about grower relationships and the dissemination of information throughout the agricultural community.

Having grown up on the family farm in the central wheatbelt of WA I have always been interested and involved with agriculture. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at UWA focusing on plant biology. Following this I took a gap year or six and on return to Australia worked as a research agronomist for a private research and development company. I now work for Nufarm as a Field Development Officer in broadacre agriculture based in Western Australia. My role sees me traveling across the grain growing areas of WA, working with industry and growers. I enjoy being involved in projects from their conception through to years of rigorous assessment and then on to launch.

Growing up on a farm gives you a special insight into the world. You can be eating pasta and you think about a paddock of wheat, most other people just see pasta. You can be eating a steak and you think of the lush rolling hills this steer has just come from, other people (my husband included) just eat the steak without a second thought. Being raised on a farm has faired me well and provided a career in Agriculture. I have spent the last few years exploring the world of Horticulture and am heading back to my broadacre roots. The food that we grow and the fibres that we produce are spread far and wide. Not often do we stop to consider the power of agriculture and the importance of every single farmer within its scope. I am passionate about educating people on how important this industry is and ensuring its longevity for my children and every other generation to come. I truly believe in growing a better tomorrow.

After growing up across the ditch as a military brat, I completed a bachelor of applied science with a focus on agronomy through Massey University.  Since then, I’ve gone on to do postgrad study and have been passionately involved in the crop protection industry across Australasia in field based roles on both the commercial and technical sides.  Good account and Area management is hugely important to me – understanding your business and ours so I can offer the best solutions and allow you to focus on what drives your business forward – it’s quite simply, hugely rewarding.  I love working with the people I get to engage with and support on a daily basis and am extremely grateful for being welcomed on to properties with some of the most amazing scenery the North, South and West Islands have to offer.
