Agriculture is in our blood and everyday we work towards growing a better tomorrow for the Australian market. I believe customer focus is our most inherent value at Nufarm and everything we do from product development to customer service, is all about finding solutions for our customers.

I was born and raised on the family farm just north of Wagga which my family still runs today with a focus on broadacre Winter cropping and prime lamb production. This was the beginning of my passion for agriculture which has led me to a career firstly working for a local reseller in Wagga, and then eventually joining Nufarm as a graduate after finishing my Ag degree at University. I enjoy working with customers and growers to help them find solutions to grow the best quality crops they can. In my spare time I enjoy getting involved in the family farm, playing golf and watching cricket in the Summer and AFL in the Winter.

Steve Manning

Key Account Manager
Australia

I have a passion for agriculture. Born and raised on a dairy farm in the Adelaide hills, I have had several roles within the industry working on our own family farm as well as managing other properties. I have spent the last 14 years as an agronomist working in broadacre agronomy and small seed production and am now in my current role within Nufarm. I love working in the ag industry and helping provide solutions to growers and the industry as a whole. It is a great industry be work in and the diversity makes every day exciting. I love my local sport and keep involved at club and association level and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

I completed an agricultural science degree at Melbourne University (Dookie campus) and then started a career in broadacre cropping agronomy before joining Nufarm in a Research and Development (R&D) role in 2005 based in Horsham, Victoria.  I remain based in Horsham with a wife and three boys; and my current role of Field Development Lead for Australia and New Zealand, involves coordinating a team of Field Development Officers.  This group is part of our Portfolio Solutions team and we work on projects that span across a diverse crop range and geography with a general focus on finding solutions to farmers crop protection problems.  I enjoy travelling throughout regional Australia and New Zealand and it’s a continual learning process on different agricultural crops.  The development time-frames for new products or solutions can be quite long; so we all take great satisfaction from a product launch and providing technical advice to our sales teams, external agronomists and consultants as well as the end user.

With an involvement in agriculture over 20 years from agronomy, family farm management on Kangaroo Island, lecturing and regional management in various areas of Australia, working in agriculture is a passion. Working with farmers, customers and industry groups to find farming solutions is very rewarding. Having a young family of boys, football and cricket are not far away as well as the motorbikes. Packing up the camper to head to the coast is a regular activity as well as being part of the Lucindale Roos Football Club and community.

I grew up on a small acreage in Wagga Wagga, NSW. My grandparents also had a small farm 20kms out, in Mangoplah. I remember weekends helping my grandma pick fruit in their orchard and helping feed the cows. I moved away from agriculture and moved to Adelaide where I completed my schooling and found myself being drawn back to agriculture where I worked at a plant breeding company over one summer which reignited my passion for agriculture again. I’ve completed just under 6 years as an agronomist in the South East, SA and Wimmera/Mallee, VIC dealing with broadacre cropping, pasture feed, small seed production and a handful of horticulture crops under irrigation. This has taken me into my current role in Nufarm Australia. I love working in agriculture because no two days are the same and it is ever changing industry especially in the last couple years with land prices increasing and input costs reducing profit margins. When I’m not at work I’m with my family, outside in my garden or veggie patch or playing netball in winter and women’s footy in summer for the local sporting club.

Born and raised in a country community, I have spent more than 35 years in the agriculture industry, with a focus on customer service. I have a passion for positive outcomes for all participants across the industry. Having performed roles at various management levels of agricultural businesses has equipped me to understand the daily requirements of producers and our customers. I am proud to work for an Australian company that manufactures products locally. With teenage kids, time away from work is all about sport and having an involvement in football through committee and coaching roles.

Having grown up in a rural country town, I developed an interest in agriculture leading me to study a Bachelor of Agriculture through the University of New England. This passion was born from sheer enjoyment of the outdoors and farm life, living vicariously through close friends and their farms. Towards the end of my schooling, I was working on mixed broadacre farms, providing me with an insight into the ag industry. Over the last five years, I was fortunate to have studied online and attend intensive schools, whilst working full-time as an Agronomist. The experience I gained across a variety of horticulture, broadacre, mixed pastures and small seed production was a great way to begin my career in the ag industry.

I was fortunate enough to study Agricultural Science throughout high school and then went on to complete a Bachelor of Environmental Science at the University of Adelaide, developing a keen interest in weed ecology.  I have since worked at Forestry SA, University of Adelaide, and Eurofins Agroscience Services and am currently in the role of Field Development Officer at Nufarm.  I have a strong interest in herbicides, managing herbicide resistance and enjoy playing a role in developing solutions for farmers and agronomists.  Being a part of the Portfolio Solutions team at Nufarm Australia is very satisfying because we have a culture that fosters creativity and ideation, which I believe are key components of successful product development.

Growing up in the suburbs of Adelaide I completed an Agricultural Science Degree (Oenology) at the University of Adelaide which began my involvement in agriculture, with a 15 year career in Winemaking and Viticulture. Located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills wine region of South Australia I worked in all aspects of Vineyard & Wine production.  Being a part of a premium wine production area has highlighted the importance of crop protection and how companies like Nufarm play a vital role in this space. With a focus on Horticulture my current role is as a Field Development officer based out of Adelaide, where I perform a range of tasks including conducting and managing field trials, product development and training.

Growing up on a family farm south of Lameroo in the South Australian Mallee gave me an early appreciation for agriculture. After finishing school, I worked for a local reseller which was where my passion for agriculture grew. I then went onto study a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at the University of Adelaide and then worked at contract research company AgXtra. Growing up on my family’s mixed farming property west of Gunnedah NSW, sparked my passion for all things rural & regional in Australia and the amazing Agricultural industry which is at the heart of it. I started with Nufarm in August 2022 as the Business Development Manager for Central West NSW. Growing up on the family farm at Lake Cargelligo, I developed a keen interest in Agriculture at an early age and it was always an industry I wanted to be part of. As the Agriculture industry is constantly changing and always being challenged by external forces there is always something interesting keeping me motivated. Agronomy roles in the M.I.A. and then Saskatchewan have given me a sound understanding of many cropping segments. My role with Nufarm allows me to work with local Agronomists and Farmers, finding solutions to continue increasing productivity and profitability. A young family consumes most spare time at the moment but I still wet a line with mates when I can.

I have been involved in the agricultural industry all my life both in a personal and professional sense. Growing up on a broadacre farm in the WA wheatbelt and being raised in a generational farming family, helped nurture my passion for farming and rural communities. My background includes work in the grain exporting, marketing & phytosanitary space as a DPIRD accredited Authorised Officer, a Bachelor of Agribusiness at Curtin University, and most recently a role with an Australian agri bank in the sales & relationship management team. Throughout these experiences, I uncovered a profound interest and respect for Australian agricultural innovation, which has led me to my BDM role at Nufarm. Interacting with like-minded people who share similar values and interests in providing agribusiness solutions is where I find the most joy at work. I look forward to building on my existing network within this wonderful industry.
