Some rusts are becoming a serious threat to cereal crops in Eastern Canada. Three species are found in cereal fields – stripe rust, leaf rust and stem rust. Leaf rust is the most common and stripe rust has been increasing in incidence in recent years. The earlier in the season a rust infection takes place, the bigger the impact these diseases will have on crop performance.
