Disease control challenge
Some rusts are becoming a serious threat to wheat fields in Western Canada especially with the recent development of overwintering stripe rust. Average yield losses of 13% can be attributed to stripe rust when it occurs in spring wheat.1 Blackleg is found in up to 95% of surveyed western Canadian canola fields in any given year. Yield losses add up fast with blackleg infected fields reporting up to 50% losses.2
