Nufarm strengthens UK and Irish team with raft of key appointments

Nufarm UK has added almost 100 years of agronomy experience to its UK and Irish operations with a string of key, national appointments. The Australian crop protection company, which has a manufacturing plant at Wyke, West Yorkshire, has appointed four new agronomy managers across the UK and Ireland, and extended its UK marketing operations.

The new agronomy managers are Iain Allan covering Scotland; Brent Gibbon, west of England and Wales; Daniel Macdonald, east of England and Martin Fitzpatrick, Ireland. Tom Brown joins the company’s marketing team as customer communication executive.

The appointments strengthen Nufarm UK’s expertise across cereals, grassland management and vegetables, and extend the company’s agronomy coverage to the whole of UK and Ireland. They come hot on the heels of major announcements made by the company earlier this year, including the acquisition of the product portfolios from Adama, FMC and Syngenta in March and an agreement with Sumitomo in September to distribute novel fungicide compound, metyltetraprole, trademarked as Pavecto® in solutions with Nufarm fungicides to key European markets, including the UK in the future.

Simon Bishop, country manager UK and Ireland said the appointments reflected Nufarm’s commitment to British and Irish farming and demonstrated the company was investing in people as well as R&D, chemistry and products.

He said: “I believe we’ve made some fantastic appointments in Brent, Iain, Dan, Martin and Tom. Their combined experience brings nearly a century of expertise in cereals, grassland and vegetable growing to our UK and Ireland operation, as well as digital marketing and communications expertise which puts us in a very strong position to work more closely with our key partners and groups in the industry.

“The move also demonstrates our clear commitment to the UK and Ireland. These are important markets to Nufarm which is why we are choosing to invest in them. 2018 has been a very busy and successful year for us, and with the expert team we now have in place, we are confident we can build on that in 2019.”
