This trial field showcases four test plots, each designed to demonstrate a different crop protection strategy. Our goal is to explore more sustainable and effective ways to control Phytophthora infestans in potatoes — using both conventional and hybrid approaches.
Object 1 – Variety: Agria – current approach
Represents the current approach, based on standard chemical protection practices.
Object 2 – Variety: Agria – future-oriented strategy
Object 2 illustrates a future-oriented strategy, where Canvas® is combined with our new biological fungicide to create a hybrid solution.
Objects 3 and 4 are part of a broader trial series aimed at evaluating the performance of the new highly resistant variety Peter Pan, developed by Geersing Potato Specialist.
These field trials are also being conducted under the Sustainable Potato Platform (SPP) – a collaboration between Nufarm and Geersing – and are thoroughly tested at independent research facilities such as Eurofins De Bredelaar.
Object 3 – Variety: Peter Pan (Geersing PS) – Untreated
This plot contains the new resistant variety Peter Pan and is left untreated. It serves as a visual reference to assess the natural resistance of this variety under real field.
Object 4 – Variety: Peter Pan (Geersing PS) – Hybrid Treatment
Object 4 demonstrates a hybrid crop protection strategy using the new biological fungicide in combination with Canvas®. This treatment offers reliable leaf and tuber protection, even after flowering — the stage where Peter Pan’s resistance naturally starts to decline.
