Our groundbreaking pod-sealant technology Sealicit captured significant attention at Ireland’s National Ploughing Championships, where it was shortlisted for the prestigious
Green Impact Award. The event, held in Ratheniska, Co. Laois, drew an impressive crowd of over 240,000 attendees across three days, providing a great platform for showcasing our innovation.

Martin Fitzpatrick, Agronomy Manager UK & Ireland, represented Nufarm at the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Arena Awards, participating alongside our partners at Brandon Bioscience. The Arena serves as a premier showcase for breakthrough agricultural technologies, putting innovative solutions in front of key industry stakeholders.

Green Innovation Recognition

Sealicit’s nomination for the Green Impact Award highlighted our commitment to sustainable farming practices. This category specifically recognizes innovations that contribute to the future of food and farming sustainability. Our team engaged in a comprehensive evaluation process, including:

  • An initial presentation and Q&A session
  • Face-to-face meetings with judges at the event
  • A three-minute pitch to Enterprise Ireland judges, international buyers, and government ministers

While Sealicit didn’t claim the top prize, the response from Irish tillage farmers was overwhelmingly positive. Farmers showed particular interest in Sealicit’s early application capabilities, appreciating that it reduces the need for additional field entries while effectively managing pod shattering.

Expert Endorsement

Dermot Forrestial from Teagasc, serving on the judging panel, provided valuable feedback highlighting Sealicit’s strategic importance in the current agricultural landscape:
  • With oilseed crop desiccation no longer permitted and natural ripening required, Sealicit fills a crucial market need
  • The product offers essential yield protection and insurance for growers
  • Farmers particularly value Sealicit’s ease of application and the peace of mind it provides
