May 17, 2023 – Morrisville, NC – The Nufarm EXCEL Leadership Program joined key golf industry leaders and partners in meeting with congressional leaders on important topics impacting the golf industry in Washington, networking and participating in a community service project at the National Mall in honor of National Golf Day, May 8-10.
On Tuesday, May 9, the Nufarm EXCEL Program participants joined many other volunteer groups on the National Mall for a beautification community service project. Project volunteers mulched the mall’s cherry tree stands; seeded and mowed turf panels; performed landscape bed planting; and sodded, pruned and spruced the German American Friendship Garden and areas around the Sylvan Theater.
On Wednesday, May 10, golf industry leaders and Nufarm EXCEL participants met with their state’s respective seniors and congressional legislative leaders on the Hill to cover key issues in 2023 including:

The positive physical and mental health benefits of golfing in support of the PHIT (Personal Health Investment Today) Act

Expanding public funding on turfgrass research through the universities and private organizations in the 2023 Farm Bill

The importance of H-2B visas for the golf industry with current labor shortage challenges

Updating the US tax code to incorporate disaster relief for golf courses
